Everything you need to get started with ShelterIQ, on one page. It takes about five minutes to read.
1. Signing in
- Open https://nycacc.shelteriq.org. Bookmark it for next time.
- Choose Sign in with Google if your work email is a Google account, or type your email and click Email me a sign-in link. The link works once, for 15 minutes.
- Use the same email an admin added for you. If the page says access is limited, ask your ShelterIQ admin to add you.
The same sign-in works for every ShelterIQ product, including AskIQ.
2. Your home page

The chatbot at the top. Click it to ask questions about your live shelter data.
Enterprise Dashboard

Tools by stage
Below, the tools are grouped by the animal's journey. Click any card to open it.
3. Asking AskIQ
Type a question the way you would ask a coworker. AskIQ answers with a short summary, a table, a chart or animal cards with photos.
- "How many dogs are in care at each care center?"
- "Which animals have been with us the longest?"
- "How many intakes did we have this week?"
- "Show me available cats that are good with kids"
Tips: name the care center, species or dates you mean. If an answer looks off, rephrase or add detail, and let us know (see "Getting help" below) so we can improve it.

5. Good to know
- Read-only. ShelterIQ reads your data; nothing you do here changes a record in ShelterBuddy or any other system.
- Freshness. Data is copied over from your systems regularly, so a change you just made may take a little while to show up.
- Privacy. Only people on your approved list can sign in. Please don't share screenshots with personal details outside ACC.
- Access for others. Admins add and remove people on the Admin page; new people get a welcome email automatically.
